Calming Your Nervous System – Part 2

Now that you know more about your nervous system and its functions, let’s see how you can calm your nervous system.

In this installment, we’ll have a look at three inexpensive ways you can start calming your nervous system today.

Meditation

Meditation practices are becoming increasingly popular these days. And they actually seem to be really good for your health. This is especially true when it comes to calming your nervous system. Studies have shown that meditation can strengthen the nervous system, and it can also rebuild and support it.

In addition, meditation has been shown to increase telomeres, which are associated with good health. “Telomeres are the caps at the end of each strand of DNA.” They protect your chromosomes, allowing your DNA cells to function properly, similar to the way the plastic tip at the end of a shoelace keeps the lace from fraying.

Fun

Yup, fun. When you do something you enjoy, your stress levels tend to drop. There’s no prescription for fun, though. It’s very subjective. So if you like spending time with family and friends, do some more of that. If you have fun doing other activities, go for it.

Exercise

Exercise can calm your nervous system. For this to work, try moderate exercise for under 40 minutes a day. More than that may signal to your body that you’re in a stressful state. A good way to do this would be by taking a brisk walk in nature or trails. What better place to do that than Bridgeway of Bensenville!
